Your CrossFit Story – Oli
Oli
Just by chance I saw CrossFit on a tv show a few years ago. It was immediately fascinated but I didn’t follow up. At this point CrossFit wasn’t very popular in Germany. My hairdesser Luca works out at CrossFit Four Horsemen and passed the word. I started on ramp class in January 2018 and since February I’m a member of CrossFit Four Horsemen. I also play ice hockey in a team. Besides that I like to swim, bicycle, hike, ski and play soccer (depends on the season).
I don’t really love or hate a movement. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of core exercises like sit ups. In the meantime I got used to it and better at it. It doesn’t matter how high your heart rate goes or how exhausted you feel – Never Quit! Just keep going, because you do it for yourself. Don’t think about others too much. You are new to the sport and you will improve and get better, as long as you show up on a regular basis and crush your limits. I don’t know how I felt. It was a lot more challenging than on ramp, but since every WOD is designed to bring you to your limits, every WOD could be “the first one”. As I mentioned I have been going to a global gym for the longest time, but the monotony and the hanging out at the lat machine (Mike) all day gets old, very old. So I was looking for a sport I could do all year long, that reviels my weaknesses instead of ignoring them. I was looking for a sport that supports me in playing ice hockey, gets my heart rate through the roof and makes me lift heavy. And last but not least I was looking for something fun. And fun is big in this box because of the awesome crew and staff 🙂 The motivation is to get better and get rid of any weaknesses. That is not going to happen in a short amount of time, but I have seen some incredible progress and this is a big motivator in keep yourself going. I am more conscious about my posture – walking up right e.g. . My resting pulse is lower, I have no more shoulder issues,… . A 1 RM deadlift, which I never even dreamed about daring to lift. And it is still going up! Plus sit ups are getting better as well as technical stuff like kipping pull ups and double unders. It’s the lifetime goal of stronger, faster, more of everything. Oli I work in the automobile industry. in my time off I like to chop trees and play the piano in my jazz band or I work on my muscle car. There is always something to do. A sport specific class with focus on movements would be great. I guess that would blow my schedule though 🙂 How did you get into CrossFit?
